Despite the fact that the standards of beauty seam to fluctuate from culture to culture and era to era, there are also constants in our perception. People have tried to diminute it’s importance but we should agree that when contacting it we all have very strong feelings. Beauty is the central idea I have been pursuing in my latest work, although I will have to admit that beauty standards are social constructs. Still, I feel the need to reflect on what remains from beauty when we subtract trends and if beauty is just a shell, a surface quality not worth taking into account, or if the pleasure drawn from beautiful objects is important enough for the human experience to make it worthwhile as a concept.
